It's the 1st day of Fall, the long-awaited season for many! I'm anticipating a break from the oppressive Tampa humidity & heat (I'll have to wait until Winter for that- but at least I know we're stepping closer). I love the foods of Fall, which bring out the comforting smells of Autumn and the family holidays fast approaching. I enjoy people watching & admiring those who embrace the new Fall/Winter trends the loudest. I'm celebrating my own freedom in a capsule wardrobe for the first time this Fall! So, these seasonal changes are welcome & refreshing.
Before children, my soldier husband and I were once stationed near Anchorage, Alaska. As a lover of the heat, I remember watching the tops of those far-away mountains, in August, for the first hint of white snow. And I would check daily to see how much more of the mountains, which were only bright red & orange for a mere few weeks, were turning white. With dread, I longed for Fall to last as long as possible. In that season, in that place, I did not want change.
While running this morning I had the opportunity to reflect on my comfort in knowing God is, in fact, unchanging. While my circumstances are ever shifting and the world around us is in constant movement and transition, I am thankful that God remains the same. It's satisfying & reassuring, & comforting, to be the daughter of a reliable King. I can rest knowing that He is still my Provider, the Faithful, & Unchanging King of Kings, no matter the fluidity of my life.
So, as we enter into Fall, which will bring changes to your personal life, let's try not to focus on our circumstance, but, rather, keep our focus on our never-changing God. How can you see Him in your unique circumstance? How can you see Jesus' faithfulness in your everyday life? If you can't, please Google "God is Unchanging in the Bible" & read out loud His character. Or, please reach out to me, and I will introduce you to this King.
"For every good gift & every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
